How to..dress for the Texas heat

So it’s definitely that time of year again where the endless facebook updates of how sweltering hot the Texas weather is seem to just be inevitable, and people rejoice when the weather is somewhere below 100 degrees.

By being on a gigantic campus all the time, I’ve literally tried everything to keep from looking like a sweaty mess. I’ve gone from jeans and a tank top to shorts and a blouse, and I must say nothing quite does the trick like a cute summer-y dress. It’s breezy and cool, and no matter what you’ll look cute (plus it makes getting ready in the morning so much faster- which is a luxury in college)
So here are my top 5 picks:

Nordstrom BP Dress $44
I just bought this dress in coral and I love it's versatility and comfort. You can dress it down for class with sandals, a belt, and a necklace and then dress it up with pumps and a cute clutch for night time.

Urban Outfitters Dress $59
I love the idea of wearing a black and cream printed dress in the summer. This dress has a a tuxedo-inspired look that's offset by the lightness of the skirt.

Free People Dress $98
Nothing quite defines the summer to me like a crisp white dress. I really love this white lace dress for exactly that reason, and let's be honest Free People never lets me down with the summer dresses. (Though they do hurt the wallet a lot)

Nasty Gal Dress $58
I wouldn't be me if I didn't incorporate a nautical dress in this post somewhere, and I thought this dress had an interesting twist on my usual "stripes everywhere and on everything" approach. I'm absolutely in love this two-toned crossover dress. Think red lips and gold accessories!

Top Shop Dress $75
This Top Shop dress is absolutely exquisite. There's something comforting in the way the dress is so soft and dainty looking.

Stay stylish and cool everybody!
